This Privacy Policy applies to the VC News website and related services (collectively, the “Services”). By using or accessing the Services, you agree to the practices described below.

What this policy covers

We explain what personal data we collect when you use VC News — create channels from RSS feeds, X (Twitter) handles, or podcast feeds; receive scheduled briefs over email or Telegram; and browse the Discover catalog. This policy does not cover third-party services you choose to connect, which are governed by their own privacy policies.

Personal data we collect

• Account information. Name, email address, and a user ID created when you sign in.
• Channel configuration. The sources you subscribe to (RSS URLs, X handles, podcast feeds), the delivery cadence you set, and the destinations you choose (email address, Telegram chat ID).
• Generated content. Briefs that VC News produces on your behalf, including summaries, rankings, and the source items selected for each brief.
• Usage and analytics data. Page interactions, feature usage, session duration, and error logs. We use these to debug and improve the product.
• Device and technical information. Browser type, operating system, and IP address.

How we collect personal data

• Directly from you when you sign up, configure channels, or contact us.
• Automatically through cookies and similar technologies when you use the Services.
• From third-party publishers when you add their feeds — we fetch and process their content on your behalf.

Why we collect personal data

• To deliver and personalize the Services, including generating your briefs.
• To send briefs over the delivery channels you configure (email, Telegram).
• To debug, secure, and improve the product.
• To respond to your requests and communicate with you about your account.
• To comply with applicable laws and protect our rights and yours.

How we share personal data

We disclose your personal data to a limited set of service providers and third parties:

• AI and LLM providers that process source content to generate summaries and rankings. We send the source text and your channel preferences; we do not send your contact information.
• Hosting and infrastructure providers that run our servers and databases.
• Delivery providers (e.g. the Telegram Bot API, email sending providers) used to deliver briefs to the destinations you configure.
• Legal obligations. We may share data when required by law or to protect rights, property, or safety.
• Business transfers. If VC News is acquired or merged, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction.

We do not sell your personal data.

Cookies and tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and measure how the Services are used. You can control cookies in your browser settings; disabling them may break parts of the Services.

Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the Settings page; we will delete your account data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it for legal, security, or accounting purposes.

Your choices

• You can edit or delete channels and sources at any time.
• You can disconnect delivery destinations from Settings.
• You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email.
